Dog Attacks

Pit Bull Attack

A stray pit bull wandered into a northwest Las Vegas Valley convenience store and gas station this morning,Two men and an 8-year-old girl were taken to a hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries after the attack that started shortly before 8 a.m. Tuesday, said Metro Officer Barbara Morgan. One of the men drove himself to the hospital, she said.  A clerk inside the Short Line Express in the 6600 block of Sky Pointe Drive, west of North Buffalo Drive, saw a man and his daughter on top of their vehicle trying to avoid the dog, then called 911, Morgan said.  The clerk told police that the man was bleeding from one of his legs, Morgan said.  When police arrived the pit bull had entered the convenience store, where three men were holding it down. The dog was biting one of the men's forearms, so police shot the pit bull, Morgan said.  The pit bull had no tags or collar and the owner is unknown. Police plan to search for a microchip in the animal.

 Pomeranian Attack

This Pomeranian killed a 6-week-old Girl. The Girls parents went out of town and left the baby with a relative. The relative left the baby in a room to get a warm bottle of milk for her. When she came back from the kitchen, she saw the baby's head in the Pomeranian's mouth. The investigator said "I guess it does not take much to kill a 6-week-old girl." The relative didn't get charged, but the Pomeranian got taken away. This shows the Pit Bull is not the only breed that kills. I read in a blog one time that the only safe pet you can get is a stuffed animal. Every animal has the potential to kill or injure somebody.

Little Boy Mauled By German Shepherd

A 6-year old boy got mauled by a German Shepherd. The dog put deep cut wounds into the boys face, around his left eye. They said the boy will be needing plastic surgery. We can't always blame it on the American Pit Bull. Any breed can attack. As long as there are irresponsible dog owners, there will continue to be dog attacks. That's what I think.

Pit Bulls Save Couple's Life In Fire

Rick Reed and his fiancee, Alyssa Baker, were asleep at 2 a.m. Wednesday when they were awakened by barking from Reed's three pit bulls. The dogs were frantically scratching on the bedroom door and one even slammed her head into the door several times in an attempt to wake them. When Reed got up and opened the door, he saw heavy smoke in the hallway. Reed and Baker managed to climb out a bedroom window and then Reed got his dogs out through a back door as the mobile home fire quickly grew.
